A new start in the new year

With a new year comes a new start and new opportunities. Thank goodness for that, because 2012 has been a rough one in The Walton household. I'll spare you the sappy details, but this past year has been a challenge {to say the least}. My husband and I have gone through a lot. Here are some of our hardest times of 2012... Two tragic deaths in my family, another death of a very close family friend, a skin cancer scare on my shoulder and a minor surgery short after, a 6 month long job search for myself (with no job found might I add) and our decision to sell our house. Yupp. It's been a rough one, and I'm more than happy to welcome lucky number 2013 with open arms.

As much as I feel like we've been beat down, there have been so many blessings that have come our way as well. Tomorrow is the last day of my contract at my job and as scary and sad as that might be, I will soon be starting my own business - which is also very exciting. Its something I have always been interested in, but always been too scared to do. There will be many tears leaving my wonderful co-workers and friends tomorrow, but I hope to make the most of it and move on to the next chapter of my career. More to come on that soon;) Click on the picture below to check out my new website.

Another little something you might have noticed is our recent decision to sell the house. Crazy right?? I know. We ARE crazy. We're moving to a more central part of Fort Worth called {Arlington Heights} and we could not be more excited! I will be posting about our move soon and will show y'all a few pictures of our new {soon-to-be} home

In 2012 we also adopted our adorable little kitty, Bailey. Somehow I was able to convert my husband into a cat person and we are both just crazy about our new little fur ball. I mean look at that face... How could you not tilt your head and say awwwww??

Like I said, this year has been rough and it's taken a lot out of me. Of everything I have been through this year, I walk away knowing that nothing is promised and every moment given to you is a blessing. I am reminded how much I love and adore my family and realize that most of the little things I worry about don't really matter. I hope that you all are as excited about the new year as much as I am. I cannot wait to see what all is in store for 2013!

Happy new year!

  6. NO time like the present and good for you for having the courage to stand behind your talents. Your website is incredible. Boy to have that kind of knowledge and talent is wonderful, you're making good on your potential. There are many women out there that have started their own businesses and why not you. I wish you all the best and much good luck.
I can understand how 2012 must have been a trial to get thru but we have to find out what we're made of so now you have more courage and confidence in yourself. I'm so sorry for all the heart ache losing people you loved.
How wonderful you have your baby Bailey, she is adorable. Animals are such wonderful gifts we get.
I just found out a couple weeks ago I had skin cancer on my left breast and way too many precancerous spots. I'm sporting a nasty scab on my bottom lip, a spot on bridge of my nose, spot on top end of left eyebrow, spot on top of right ear. The dermatologist froze the spots on face, etc. but had to cut out the spot on left breast, I'd had a sore that didn't heal so finally decided I'd better get it looked at, sure glad I did. I'm 72 and it finally caught up with me.
I'm paying for all those years of tanning, using baby oil and cooking myself. It's hard cause I love being out on the water floating, boating, all the things that expose my body to danger. I have learned to use a good sun screen for every place exposed. Hard for me but I'm not ready to die yet.
You have a new year to be your best, you'll do great. Happy 2013.

  7. Wow, exciting year for you! I remember when we were starting a business. Boy, there was a lot of work for the first two years since we started. Hope your business takes flight and that you have a great year this 2013.
